The Bury Historical and Heritage Society has organized a day of activities on Sunday, June 7, in the Memorial Park. Starting at 11 a.m. is a service led by Father Daniel Gilbert of the Catholic Community of Saint-François-de-Laval and by Tami Spires, United Church of Canada Minister for the United Eaton Valley Pastoral Charge. The bilingual ceremony is to be a tribute to the historicalfounders of Bury. Following it, everyone is cordially invited to a picnic lunch (bring your own lunch). Refreshments and popcorn will be available. Ms. “Plume Couleur” will be on hand to paint the faces of children. Starting at 2 p.m. in the 175th Anniversary Gazebo, the brass instruments of the Big Bam Band’s 18 musicians will resound over the park. Martin Ducharme directs the experienced band. A number of the musicians are Haut-Saint-Franciscans, and they will be playing some well known hits. It’s a great occasion to recall how, in the past, musicians often came together in to play in villages on Sundays. In case of rain, the event will move to the Community Centre of the village. The organizing committee advises participants to bring their own chairs.
